1. Purpose
This policy establishes Vinylize Wraps' standards regarding paint condition, existing damage, repaint quality, and the risks associated with vinyl installation and removal.
2. Plain-English Summary
Vinyl follows the condition of the surface beneath it. Existing damage, fresh paint, rust, previous repairs, and poor-quality repainting may affect installation quality and vinyl removal.
3. Official Policy
3.1 Vehicle Inspection
Every vehicle will receive a visual inspection once thoroughly cleaned before work begins. Photographs may be taken to document its condition.
3.2 Existing Damage
Visible chips, scratches, dents, rust, corrosion, cracked trim, previous vinyl, paint defects, and body repairs will be documented where reasonably possible.
Texture Transfer: Vinyl conforms to the vehicle's surface. Deep rock chips, scratches, gouges, body filler edges, and uneven clear coat will remain visible after installation. Vinyl does not hide physical surface defects.
3.3 Paint Quality
Vinylize Wraps cannot verify the quality or adhesion of factory or aftermarket paint, previous body repairs, or hidden corrosion.
Fresh Paint Notice: Newly painted or clear-coated vehicles must cure for a minimum of thirty (30) days, or longer if required by the paint manufacturer, before vinyl installation. Vinylize Wraps is not responsible for paint lifting or adhesive failure resulting from wrapping uncured paint.
3.4 Paint Failure
Vinylize Wraps is not responsible for paint lifting, clear coat failure, peeling, body filler separation, or failure of aftermarket or previously repaired paint caused by the underlying condition of the vehicle.
3.5 Previously Wrapped Vehicles
Removal of existing vinyl is billed hourly. Excessive adhesive residue requiring chemical removal or additional labour will be billed separately.
3.6 Rust, Corrosion & Plastic Trim
Vinyl will not repair or conceal corrosion. Vinyl wraps are not guaranteed to adhere to unpainted, textured, porous, or low-surface-energy plastic components. Installation on these surfaces is performed at the Customer's risk and is excluded from warranty.
3.7 Vehicle Disassembly
Components may be removed using accepted industry practices. Vinylize Wraps is not responsible for brittle clips, aged fasteners, hidden corrosion, or pre-existing mechanical or electrical faults discovered during normal disassembly or reassembly.
3.8 Customer Acknowledgement
Before work begins, the Customer must separately acknowledge this Paint Condition & Existing Damage Policy in addition to approving the project quote. By doing so, the Customer accepts the documented vehicle condition and the inherent risks associated with vinyl installation and removal.
4. Definitions
Existing Damage, Factory Paint, Aftermarket Paint, Body Filler, and Texture Transfer are defined for the purposes of this policy.
5. Responsibilities
Vinylize Wraps will inspect and document visible defects. Customers must disclose previous repainting, repairs, vinyl installations, ceramic coatings, or known defects.
6. Limitations
Vinylize Wraps does not guarantee paint adhesion, hidden repairs, corrosion beneath panels, or adhesion to low-surface-energy plastics.
